Phil retrained in archaeology in 2014 with the Exploring the Past pathway at Cardiff University, before undertaking a number of accredited undergraduate modules there. He has participated in projects across the UK and in Turkey. He has worked in commercial archaeology since 2017 developing considerable skill in reading past landscapes, fieldwalking and metal detecting surveys.
