Position Available: Project Manager Contract: Permanent Contract Location: Scotland Job Description: Red River Archaeology Group are currently recruiting for a flexible, driven and innovative Project Manager to join the team. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a range of projects and to assist with continued business development. The role will involve managing archaeological projects from birth to grave, including (but not limited to) compiling or contributing to tenders, liaising with clients, managing budgets, allocating and managing resources, reporting to senior managers, ensuring quality and compliance in all elements of a project and quality assurance in reporting and publication. We are seeking candidates who can showcase a diverse skill set, including proficiency in the excavation and post-excavation processes. An in-depth understanding of Scottish archaeology, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, is essential. Experience in project management is also beneficial, but training and mentorship can be provided in this regard if a candidate can demonstrate an interest/ aptitude for this type of work. Responsibilities
Successfully manage projects (or elements of projects, such as an excavation)
Candidates should be willing to navigate commercial archaeology practices and effectively liaise with clients.
Prior knowledge of health and safety protocols specific to archaeology is preferred.
The candidate should also be proficient in utilizing a range of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Demonstrate a track record in producing high-quality consultancy documents/ reports and a publication record would be beneficial.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with strong organizational abilities.
The ability to multitask effectively, manage time efficiently, and mediate/facilitate discussions is highly valued.
Work independently and take initiative when necessary.
Flexibility as regards travel and site/ meeting attendance is essential, but it is expected that a significant element of this job will be desk-based.
The ability to build and grow the team and manage large projects
Skills and Qualifications
An in-depth understanding of Scottish archaeology, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks is essential.
Track record in the autonomous completion of archaeological reports and/or publications is essential and examples will be requested.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written is essential.
A full clean driving licence is essential.

Job Summary We are looking for enthusiastic and skilful Project Assistants to join us in our UK office. The central task of the Project Assistant is to excavate and record archaeological features on-site, under direction from the Project Supervisor. This role may also be required to undertake certain office duties including data entry and environmental and/or finds processing. Summary of essential job functions
Adherence to disciplinary codes of conduct and taking direction from the Project Supervisor on such matters
Adherence to all Health & Safety and Waste Management policies and taking direction from the Project Supervisor on such matters
Ensuring that they have adequate equipment, tools and resources to complete the task/duty assigned to them.
Ensuring that best archaeological practice is followed at all times, within the terms of Red River’s excavation manual
Implementing the instructions of the Project Supervisor regarding excavation strategies to ensure completion of the site/project on schedule and within budget
Carrying out the tasks assigned to them in a timely and efficient manner
Working to ensure that their section of the site/project is completed on schedule
Ensuring that their section of the Site Archive is complete and maintained to the highest possible standards
Undertaking archaeological monitoring of construction/demolition works as required
Assistance with logistical works associated with site set up, general maintenance and site closure including (but not limited to) loading and unloading of tools equipment and samples; general cleaning/ sweeping and tidying of compounds, cabins (inc. contents), roads and vehicles; moving, laying down and maintenance of barrow boards; cleaning and maintenance of tools, samples buckets and similar; assisting with lifting and moving of traffic management equipment; assistance with lifting, moving, erection or dismantling of fencing including edge protection and perimeter fencing
Possible office duties (including, but not limited to)
Cataloguing and assessing the Site Archive
Data entry of the Site Archive
The timely and efficient completion of any tasks assigned
Processing and cataloguing of environmental and/or artefactual material
Abilities required
