By Dave Gilbert In May we posted about the start of our collaboration with Bristol University on their Summer School Excavations on the Anarchy Period site near Alveston, South Gloucestershire. Seven weeks and many interesting finds later the excavations have come to an end for this year. Red River Archaeology's experienced archaeologists undertook the training of not only Bristol University students but also a group of students from the USA that were keen to learn British history and archaeological techniques. The degree programme at Bristol is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and our accredited staff were able to pass on their knowledge of the CIfA guidance and standards to this new generation of archaeologists. The Summer School formed part of the South West Anarchy Research Project under the direction of Dr Stuart Prior and attracted the attention of Dr Alice Roberts and the BBC's Digging For Britain team that spent a day filming the proceedings. #HARP22 #InternationalSummerSchool #universityofbristol
